Rockingham Area
Community Land Trust
Welcomes New
Executive Director
Rockingham Area
Community Land Trust
(RACLT), a nonprofit
organization
providing low to
moderate income
family housing in
southeastern
Vermont, has named
Russell C. Brink as
its new executive
director. Brink
brings a wealth of
experience with
nonprofit
organizations as
well as with
community business
groups. Previously,
he was executive
director of
development programs
at Downtown Eugene,
Inc., Eugene,
Oregon, a business
advocacy group
responsible for
revitalizing the
city center of
Eugene.
A graduate of
Hanover (NH) High
School, Brink
received a degree in
political science
with a concentration
in urban planning
from Colorado
College in Colorado
Springs, CO. In
Eugene he
participated in
numerous community
organizations
including the Lane
Transit District,
chairing the board
of Safe & Sound, a
homeless and at-risk
youth program and
working with the
University Small
Business
Association.
“I was intrigued
with the notion of
working in a
multi-community
region, something I
did early in my
career when I
directed a
five-county,
bi-state (Oregon and
Washington) economic
development
agency. I am also
looking forward to
the challenge of
learning a new area
of community
development (for
me), affordable
housing. I believe
that affordable
housing and home
ownership are
critical to the
health of a
community. I am
excited and honored
to be returning to
the area to continue
the great work of
the Rockingham Area
Community Land
Trust,” stated
Brink.
Brink’s community
management
background positions
him well to
understand the
importance of good
property and
community
stewardship. “I
think RACLT
properties and
projects should be
of the highest
possible quality
within available
budgets. The
properties should be
safe for residents
and the communities
in which they are
located. RACLT
should strive to be
a good partner with
the towns and
villages we serve
and our funding
partners. Given
rising energy costs
and environmental
concerns I also
believe we should
strive for
energy-efficient
buildings with the
use of
alternative-energy
technology,” said
Brink.
“The board looks
forward to welcoming
Russ Brink, who has
spent more than two
decades serving the
not-for-profit
sectors on
redevelopment
projects, including
affordable housing
projects,” said
Donna Allen,
president of the
Board of Rockingham
Area Community Land
Trust.
Brink is replacing
Jeff Staudinger, who
has been with
Rockingham Area
Community Land Trust
for four years.
“Jeff brought to the
role his passion for
developing new
affordable housing
and improving
existing housing for
families,” said
Allen, “and he has
been instrumental in
expanding
homeownership
opportunities for
single-family
households.” Under
Staudinger’s
leadership, RACLT
forged new
partnerships with
area communities to
develop affordable
housing,
rehabilitated
existing housing and
expanded the
opportunities for
families and
individuals to
become first-time
homeowners.
Staudinger will
continue assisting
in the executive
director transition
until September.
Brink enjoys reading
about history and
politics, traveling,
exploring arts,
culture and
entertainment. Also,
he plays golf, proud
member of Red Sox
Nation and closely
follows his son's
professional
football career. |
