    HomeOwnership Center Workshop

“Realizing the American Dream: A Homebuyer’s Workshop”

The NeighborWorks® HomeOwnership Center of Southeastern Vermont holds monthly workshops for those interested in buying a home and those in the process of buying one.

Professionals will provide information on affording a home, managing money, repairing and rebuilding credit, qualifying for a mortgage, no- and low-down payment programs, loans for closing costs, working with a real estate agent, house inspections, and home maintenance. With this information prospective home buyers will be able to put together a team of real estate professionals to help them buy the most home for their money.

There is refundable $50.00 material fee. Participants will receive a comprehensive home buying manual and refreshments. In addition, participants may choose to receive a free credit report and one-on-one credit analysis with a certified credit counselor. Counselors will assess participants affordability and develop a home buying plan in this session. The fee is refundable to participants after they purchase their home.

Registration is necessary, and the number of participants is limited. If interested please call Tina (ext 215) or Bruce (ext 222) at 802-885-3220.

The NeighborWorks HomeOwnership Center of Southeastern Vermont is a program of the Rockingham Area Community Land Trust.

“When I walked into class, I thought this was going to be a complete waste of time. After class I thought I might be able to buy a house. After meeting with you, I have no question that I will be able to buy a house and I feel empowered to do so.”

                – Richard LeTourneau, March 2007

“The Bells were wonderful to work with because they knew the importance of advance planning and were serious about becoming homeowners. Working with the Home Ownership Center and VHFA, Chittenden was able to put a financing package together that allowed Jennifer and Justin to buy their home and make the improvements they needed for their growing family, while keeping it affordable. They worked very hard to become ‘mortgage ready’ and I was honored to play a role in helping them achieve their dream of home ownership.”

    – Cathy Eakins, Assistant Vice President
    Certified Mortgage Professional
    Chittenden Bank

“The most important piece of advice I give my friends and family about buying a home is, educate yourself as much as possible, and the Realizing the American Dream home buyers workshop is a great way to do that.”
